We already had a dog water ramp, which we have loved, but there was at least one complaint with it. Our existing ramp is narrow and long. (I.e. the end you tie to your boat or dock is the narrow end, and the sides that extend out into the water are longer.) Our biggest complaint with it has been the mesh ramp. - It appears to be made of soft string material, not very heavy gauge, that is rubber coated. Well, pretty soon after getting it, and with use by our dog as well as our occasionally visiting grand-dog (both weighing in the mid-40s lbs. range) the mesh started to rip in numerous places. We were so excited to get this new ramp because it looked like it has a much more durable ramp....which, on getting it appears to be the case. (This appears to be made of a very tightly woven, more synthetic and tougher mesh.) However, here is our experience on using it: This ramps dimensions are kind of the opposite of our existing ramp. I.e. The dock side is wider and the extensions outward are shorter. This appears to make the ramp a bit more stable, but the dogs don't seem to do as well with the short ramp. The shorter ramp seems harder to get up. And, on trying to then exit the ramp, the dog bone shaped textured foam grip on top of too small and to far away from the edge for them to get a good grip and pull themselves out. - We like a number of things about this new ramp, and it seems really well made, but it just doesn't function as well for our medium size dogs.
